So, here are the Top 15 Best Pokemon ROM Hacks/FanGames of 2023!
15. Pokemon Mirage of Tales 2.0
In 2013-2014, a hack called “Mirage of Tales: A New Age Dawns” gained attention for its comically bad quality. The creator, inspired by class-based RPGs and “Choose Your Own Adventure” books, began the project without much planning and learned ROM hacking on the go. As a result, the gameplay turned out to be extremely poor.
After the initial failure of “Mirage of Tales: A New Age Dawns,” the creator dedicated themselves to improving their skills in ROM hacking and realizing their original vision. The project had been a solo endeavor until 2020 when a partner named mgriffin joined in the development. Now, they are proud to introduce “Mirage of Tales 2.0” as the result of their collaborative efforts.
Some of the key features include — Choice-based gameplay, Day/Night and Seasons, Can choose your character’s personality, Houses you can own, New Moves & Abilities, PSS, Custom Regional Variants & much more!
14. Pokemon TCG: Neo
Featuring your favorites from Neo Genesis all the way to Skyridge, so many cards have been added and replaced that it’s completely changed the way this game is played. Pokémon, attacks, abilities, and even a few trainer cards were altered to create a new battling experience. If you’re looking for a TCG hack with all-new pokémon cards, look no further and download the game below.
In this game, all 187 Pokémon have been replaced with generation 2 cards from real-life sets, completing the Johto Pokedex with some Kanto Pokémon included. The cards’ attacks and abilities either mirror their real-life counterparts or have been adjusted for better gameplay. Trainer cards have also been modified, with a particular change being the replacement of Super Energy Removal with the Master Ball.
The game has been balanced to enhance weaker cards and tone down stronger ones, shifting the focus more toward Pokémon strategies rather than trainers. Dialogue, trades, and text have been updated to reflect the new cards, and every card is now obtainable, removing restrictions on deck building. NPC decks and auto deck machines have been altered, offering different strategies and fun deck ideas. The tutorial duel has been removed, assuming players are already familiar with the game, although the learning dialogue remains unchanged for reference.
13. Pokemon Emerald Rogue
Ever wondered what Pokemon might look like as a Roguelike?
So how does it work exactly? When you go on an adventure, all routes, encounters, and items are chosen procedurally based on your progress through a run.

You will have completed the run if you can make it all the way to the champion and defeat them!
When you finish or fail a run, you will return to a hub area where you can buy permanent items and catch new “starter” Pokemon to use in the next run.
As you progress through the game, more buildings/NPCs in this hub area will become available for use in preparing for the next run.

Read the synopsis below to get a better idea of the game’s story:
Welcome to the Borrius Region, a region rich in history. Many years ago the Borrius region fought a brutal war with the Kalos region. The people of the Borrius region summoned a dark force to help them defeat their enemies; however, the war ended in defeat when the king of the Kalos region unleashed the ultimate weapon. With the war over, the dark force was sealed away never to be used again.
However, many years later, an organization known simply as “The Shadows” seems bent on releasing the dark force once again. It’s up to you to stop them and save the Borrius region from ultimate destruction.

3. Pokemon Radical Red
Now, Radical Red might not have the best visuals or a brand new exciting story, but it is the BEST Fire Red enhancement hack to date! And I love the original Fire Red. So, in my humble opinion, that qualifies it for the top 3.
This hack is at its core a difficulty hack with additional features; quite similar to Drayano60’s enhancement hacks, which provide access to nearly all the Pokemon while also adding relevant buffs to make all sorts of different Pokémon and playstyles viable, and with an insane amount of quality of life features added that also make many gruesome tasks far less tedious

Pokémon Crown is an entirely new gameplay experience. While it is still an exploration-focused RPG, we have combined many elements from other genres to create something truly unique. In Pokémon Crown, you will rediscover each Pokémon and how they interact with one another using our new Auto Chess battle engine! Play against interesting and unique teams while strategizing on synergy, placement, and type matchups! 6v6 combat like you’ve never seen before!
It is a Medieval RPG set in the vast and magical Region of Guelder. Guelder, as a rich resource bastion, was thrust into a long-lasting war. Guelder triumphed after many years, but not without a cost… While the region was rebuilding, the King’s Diviner predicted a dual prophecy for the kingdom: a future of light and a future of darkness. Based on these visions, the King realized that unless something changed, the kingdom was doomed to more war.
