Description
Pokémon ShortScyther, also known as Pokémon MioPidgey, is a straightforward ROM Hack that eliminates 100% accuracy moves from the player’s Pokémon while leaving them intact for opponents. This means bidding farewell to moves like Thunderbolt, Psychic, or Ice Beam for your team.
ShortScyther and MioPidgey are basically the same game, with the only distinction being their names. However, the game guides differ in language: the ShortScyther Guide is in English, while the MioPidgey Guide is in Portuguese.
Main Changes
- All 386 Pokémon learnsets from Generation I to Generation III have undergone updates, removing moves with 100% accuracy. Moves must now have a possibility of missing in any circumstance to remain in the game.
- A new list of TMs has been introduced. Useless TMs have been removed, while new moves have been added as TMs. In the Kanto region, all 151 original Pokémon are available, with most remaining in their original locations. Post-game content includes almost every Pokémon from Generation II, allowing players to complete 251 Pokémon in their Dex if desired.
- New items are available in almost every city, ranging from berries to type-enhancing held items to affordable vitamins. However, players can choose to ignore these items to maintain the original FireRed experience.
- While no Pokémon from the Hoenn region are found in this hack (except Deoxys), players can utilize the UPRandomizer to randomize encounters and include them.
What Hasn’t Changed
- Opponents retain their original teams with their native movesets intact.
- Furthermore, there is no Physical/Special split in this ROM Hack. While I understand if you prefer PSS, this hack is designed to maintain similarity to FireRed/LeafGreen, with the primary difference being the moves available to learn.
WHY?
Because I like to suffer. I was trying to nuzlocke a run with no 100% accuracy moves. However, constantly refusing to learn new moves became tedious. To remedy this, I utilized the HexManiacAdvance software (https://github.com/haven1433/HexManiacAdvance) to permanently delete these moves from my repertoire.
Now, the game won’t prompt me to learn them again. If you’re brave enough to join me on this torturous journey, feel free to download Pokemon ShortScyther & MioPidgey and share in the suffering!
