Xerneas and Yveltal arrive in Pokémon GO!

With the arrival of the main legendary Pokémon from Pokémon X and Y, it’s going to be an action-packed month for Pokémon GO. Xerneas and Yveltal will be the main attractions at two separate events, with Xerneas arriving first. Check out the official site for the full month’s breakdown:

Save Shadow Moltres from Giovanni

This month, Giovanni will have Shadow Moltres in his grasp! Complete the latest Team GO Rocket Special Research, The Higher They Fly…, if you haven’t already, to earn a Super Rocket Radar. This will assist you in locating the Team GO Rocket Boss and saving Shadow Moltres! You can also obtain a Super Rocket Radar from Timed Research during the Luminous Legends X event.

May Research Breakthrough encounters

Galarian Ponyta will appear in Research Breakthrough encounters from Saturday, May 1, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. to Tuesday, June 1, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. PDT (GMT -7).

Featured Pokémon in raids

Throughout May, the following Legendary Pokémon will appear in five-star raids.

Incarnate Forme Tornadus, Incarnate Forme Thundurus, and Incarnate Forme Landorus will remain in five-star raids until Tuesday, May 4, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. local time.
Xerneas, the Life Pokémon, will make its Pokémon GO debut from Tuesday, May 4, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. to Tuesday, May 18, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. local time!
Yveltal, the Destruction Pokémon, will make its Pokémon GO debut from Tuesday, May 18, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. to Tuesday, June 1, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. local time!

In addition, the Mega-Evolved Pokémon listed below will appear in Mega Raids.

  • Mega Venusaur, Mega Lopunny, and Mega Abomasnow will remain in Mega Raids until Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. local time.
  • Mega Venusaur, Mega Charizard Y, and Mega Lopunny will appear in Mega Raids from Tuesday, May 4, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. to Saturday, May 15, 2021, at 5:00 p.m. local time.
  • Mega Ampharos, Mega Houndoom, and a surprise Mega-Evolved Pokémon will appear in Mega Raid from Saturday, May 15, 2021, at 5:00 p.m. to Tuesday, June 1, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. local time.

Every Wednesday in May, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. local time, a Raid Hour event featuring the Pokémon appearing in five-star raids that week will take place. As a reminder, completing five-star raids will earn you extra XP throughout the Season of Legends!

Pokémon Spotlight Hours

Throughout the month of May, Pokémon Spotlight Hour will be held every Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. local time, with each hour highlighting a different Pokémon and special bonus!

  • Tuesday, May 4, 2021: Cottonee will be in the spotlight, and catching Pokémon will earn you twice the Candy.
  • Tuesday, May 11, 2021: Dratini will be featured, and transferring Pokémon will earn you twice the Candy.
  • Tuesday, May 18, 2021: Alolan Rattata will be featured, and you will receive twice the XP for evolving Pokémon.
  • Tuesday, May 25, 2021: Marill will be in the spotlight, and catching Pokémon will earn you twice the Stardust.

May Community Day

Join us for a Community Day event on Saturday, May 15, 2021, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time! More information, including which Pokémon will be featured, will be revealed in a future blog post.

  • New Pokémon Snap Celebration: Join us in celebrating the release of the much-anticipated New Pokémon Snap from Thursday, April 29, 2021, to Sunday, May 2, 2021. Check out the blog for more information on this event.
  • Luminous Legends X: The Legendary Pokémon Xerneas will make its Pokémon GO debut from Tuesday, May 4, 2021, to Monday, May 17, 2021! With it, various Dragon- and Fairy-type Pokémon will appear more frequently in the wild, including some that will appear for the first time in Pokémon GO. During the second week of this legendary event, you can also complete challenges to unlock rewards, according to our research.
  • Luminous Legends Y: The Legendary Pokémon Yveltal will make its Pokémon GO debut from Tuesday, May 18, 2021, to Monday, May 31, 2021! We’ve also heard that Team GO Rocket may be planning some trouble around that time and that Dark-type Pokémon will be appearing more frequently in the wild. This appears to be an excellent opportunity to put your newly acquired Dragon- and Fairy-type Pokémon to good use! You’ll be able to unlock rewards during the second week of the Luminous Legends Y event by completing select challenges, just like you could during the Luminous Legends X event.
