| The Fighting Dojo has been moved to Route 14 and is now mandatory to beat in order to obtain Surf. |
| All gyms have been buffed to have 6 Pokemon with better learnsets, along with toting a Gun exclusive Pokemon. Many of them also gain 1 coverage mon not of their specialty type. |
| New type specialist boss battles have been added for Bug, Ghost, Fighting, Flying, Fairy, and Normal throughout the world. |
| Viridian Forest has a deeper second section with 4 extra trainers and a fight against Miguel, the Bug Specialist. This is also where the fossils are obtained instead of Mt. Moon. |
| Agatha and Bruno are no longer part of the Elite Four and are now fought at the end of Pokemon Tower and in the Fighting Dojo, respectively |
| A new area has been added to Cape Brink to acquire the new item, Gun Stone, which evolves certain mons into Gun exclusive Pokemon. |
